I have always had a love/hate relationship with trends. Just like everyone else, I love them until I hate them,, and my threshold for being 'over' a trend is very low. Since I know this about myself - that these things I die over for a minute, I end up detesting - I try to steer away from them altogether. It is virtually impossible, however, to design your home and not include a single trend, at least if you want it to look current in any capacity. So it's a delicate balance of when to trend and when not to trend. The biggest trends should be avoided altogether. Think: chevron, antler chandeliers, carrara marble, edison bulb fixtures... Because as Karl said, the next stop on that train is tacky.
