Tis the Season | The Importance of Holiday Decorating
Confession: I completely sat Halloween out this year. In years prior, I'd made a pretty decent splash with Halloween decor, but this year, I just let it pass me by. I would even say that Halloween is my favorite holiday, so that's even more of a shameful offense. For me, holiday decorating is like buying flowers - easy to talk myself out of doing, but so impactful when I do. I have never bought flowers and regretted it. Quite the opposite - they noticeably improve my day to day within my home. But they take time and money, just like anything else, so it's easy to say it's not worth it. Same with holiday decorating.
BUT I will not let Christmas pass me by. I helped my fiance decorate his tree yesterday and got in some major holiday spirit. He has an old school fake tree, so we had to add the color-coded limbs one by one and then string the lights, but I think it adds to the overall effect to have to put so much effort into it. See video below for amazing retro bubbling lights that used to be his moms:
I find that decorating for the holidays is even more important when you live in a warm climate like Texas. Since the temperature is still in the seventies and eighties pretty much every day in Dallas, the decor is the only thing that really lets us know it is Christmas time. Below are some images to help you get in the spirit. I challenge you to decorate your house this week. I'm right there with ya.
