Out & About | My Favorite Neighborhood Houses
I usually take pictures of homes that catch my eye when going on a walk in my neighborhood. Since, I'm not a long-distance walker, I'd say all of these are within 1.5 miles of where I live. For some of these I love the whole house, but for many it's something specific I'm drawn to - an exterior paint, landscape design, etc. Here are a few of my favorites, in no particular order.
It's so, so unfortunate that ivy on a house damages the structure. Or at least that's what I've been told. It adds interest and vibrance unlike anything else. I also love the faded white paint, chipping away to show pink break beneath. I always wonder the process of this - do you paint white and then powerwash? Or do you have to just wait it out until the brick begins to show?
This probably wouldn't be my personal dream house, but what a fine specimen of craftsman architecture!
This picture was taken around Christmas-time, as you can sort of tell by the wreath with red ribbon on the front door. It's the tall tree that makes the whole composition work.
The exterior could use some cleaning up, but I love, love the dramatic slope of this roof.
There's something that seems a little romantic and European about this house.
As a side note - I haven't been intercepted by a homeowner yet, but I'm hoping that if I ever get caught taking a picture, they would just take it as a compliment.
Does anyone else have this habit of walking and taking pictures? If so, would love to hear!
